Government of Canada Scholarships to Study in Canada 2022-23

At least 50 scholarships will be awarded in this year’s competition of the Government of Canada Scholarships for Study in Canada 2022-23, with the number expected to increase each year. Interested candidates are requested to apply now for a study place in Canadian post-secondary institutions of their choice, who will then apply for the scholarships on their behalf.

The Study in Canada Scholarships provide students from post-secondary institutions located in the new eligible countries/territories with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.

Eligibility Criteria | Government of Canada Scholarships 2022-23

Candidates must be:

  • citizens of one of the following eligible countries/territories:

    • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda; and

The Canadian post-secondary institution must:

  • be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI);
  • have a valid student exchange agreement with the candidate’s home institution that waives tuition fees for scholarship recipients. For college and undergraduate research applications with no agreement, a letter issued by the Canadian institution’s international office or equivalent will be accepted; and
  • inform both the candidate and their home institution of any mandatory fees that, in exceptional cases, cannot be waived, prior to applying for a scholarship on the candidate’s behalf.

Scholarship Value and Benefits

The scholarship is valued at CAD 10,200 or CAD 12,700 depending on study duration and the funds should be used towards:

  • visa or study/work permit fees;
